A Wonderland

A Wonderland was workshopped in March 2009 with a small private showing of the entire piece March 29th and a public showing of the title song, "Wonderland," at the Luminous Flux Festival at Galapagos Art Space on April 5th.  The piece was then accepted to open the 2009 16th Annual Ice Factory Festival at The Ohio Theatre, July 8th - 11th.  Below are the PR business card for the Ice Factory Festival and eight shots from the production, followed by shots from the Galapagos showing.

Next stop for A Wonderland is Greece for the Athens Festival in summer 2010.

TheBest

Ah... TheBest.

When I moved to NYC in January of 2003, my best friend and brother, Stephen Reyes, introduced me to Eamonn Farrell.  Turns out he was hosting a reading of The Phoenician Women that weekend and would I like to come read as well.  Having nothing lined up to do yet, I, of course, said yes and was immediately whisked into Anonymous Ensemble's newest project, TheBest, (each episode is based on the Oedipus Cycle of plays including The Phoenician Women, Seven Against Thebes, Oedipus Rex, Oedipus At Colonus, etc.)

Our first production was a huge learning experience as we juggled on-stage video and music on computers ourselves, donning both acting and technician caps for the first time (at least for me).  Subsequently, we produced a new episode every 6-9 months and got better with each and every try. (Later productions: OEDIrx, OEDI@:us, The7 Battles TheBest)

We (Anonymous Ensemble) are best known for TheBest, but we also have other shows that have toured the globe (Wanderlust, Troop Troupe, and now A Wonderland).  TheBest enjoyed production runs in Berlin for the Neuropolis Festival and in Brisbane, Queensland in Australia for the Brisbane International Theatre Festival at the Powerhouse Theatre.

EATfest Productions

Emerging Artists Theatre Company (EAT) has been around for some 17 years and going strong.  I joined the company in 2008 after having performed in the 2007 Fall EATfest (Claire in Safe, top row with Tom Greenman) and 2008 Spring EATfest (Suzanne in The Food Monologues, bottom).  As a contributing member, I then directed Next!!! in the 2008 Fall EATfest and then played Jane in Burying Mom in the 2009 Spring EATfest (PR image - 5th photo LtoR: Kelly Dynan, me, Scott Raker, Jacqueline Sydney, Hershey Miller, Laura Beth Wells). Most recently, Thank You, NannyAnnie was written for me in the all EAT 2009 Fall EATfest, here with Susan Barnes Walker as my NannyAnnie and me as Ruby (4 photos).  In the same night, I also was Belle in the short play Belle & Angel, with Amanda Lerner and Kevin Draine (3 photos).

Witches In Bikinis

The original Witches In Bikinis CD (released October 2005) was a labor of love for me and the composer, Bill Rozar.  We spent many hours in his basement studio discovering new ways to work his lush and fun songs, dating back as far as 1981 with Goblin Gaboom.  After the release of this album, Bill incorporated a live show that expanded with multiple witches and the band, growing from a CD track backed vocal/acting troupe to a full piece rock n roll band fronted by 6 bikini clad divas.  We then worked on a 2nd CD, incorporating a more guitar backed rock n roll feel, with new vocalists joining the ranks: Karen Weatherwax, Carolyn Demisch, and Joanna Walchuk.  (I was Joya Kristubel, the dark blue WIB from August 2006 to October 2007, departing after a successful showing in the NY Halloween Parade that year.)

The current line up of new WIBs are kicking ass and taking names.  Check out their website and myspace for new tracks.  (They sound AWESOME!)
